A PARENT’S GUIDE TO SPEECH SOUND SUCCESS
WHY HOME PRACTICE MATTERS?
Therapy sessions are only a small part of your child’s speech journey. Practicing at home helps reinforce new sounds and builds the muscle memory needed for lasting change.
JUST 5-10 MINUTES CAN MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE
CONSISTENCY IS KEY
Speech development is like learning a new sport or instrument; it takes REPETITION. Regular home practice helps your child make progress faster and keeps them from forgetting what they’ve learned between sessions
YOUR A SPEECH COACH TOO
You don’t need to be a speech expert to help your child. Your speech therapist will provide simple, clear instructions to help your child. They will also provide activities tailored to your child’s goal. Your encouragement and attention are strong motivators to help your child feel confident.
MAKE IT FUN & NATURAL
Practice doesn’t have to be boring or feel like a chore. Turn speech practice:- into a game, -a bedtime routine, -or part of your car rides.
KIDS LEARN BEST WHEN THEY’RE HAVING FUN!
WATCH FOR PROGRESS TOGETHER
Celebrate small wins! As you hear your child improve, point it out and praise their effort. Tracking progress at home helps you see the progress as well & keeps your child motivated.
SPEECH HAPPENS EVERYWHERE
Practicing sounds in everyday conversations helps your child use their new skills where it matters most! -You don’t need to correct them every time, but remind them occasionally throughout the week or at night when reading!
