Receptive language is a child’s ability to understand words and directions, which is a fundamental part of learning and overall communication
Understanding Location words Purpose:
Improves the ability to follow directions and understand position words (on, in under, above, next to, in front etc.)
Activities to try at home:
Hide and seek with toys and label where they are “teddy is under the table”
Play “Simon Says” using location words, “Stand next to the chair.”
Point out objects in a book, “Where is the cat?” Lying on the bed
Recognizing Size Concepts

Activities to try at home:
Compare toys or household items. “Which ball is big? Find the small spoon.”
